Treasure Hunt

Treasure Hunt

Format

The OffKai Treasure Hunt will run the duration of the convention. There will be a designated Treasure Hunt Center in the Atrium, available during these hours:

  • Friday: 11AM-8PM
  • Saturday: 10AM-8PM
  • Sunday: 10AM-5PM

There will be two batches of puzzles – one set released Friday and the other released Saturday. Both batches will have four puzzles located at various locations throughout the convention. Each puzzle will have some text at the bottom cluing the location of the next puzzle. Once hunters have completed at least three of the four puzzles, they may return to the Center to obtain the final puzzle of that day.

Prizes

Once hunters solve all puzzles for a particular day, they may submit their answer sheet for verification. Hunters with all five correct answers for a day will be able to obtain a prize for the day. There is no Grand Prize for completing the treasure hunt first for each day, but prize quality will generally increase for faster hunters for each day.

Hints

Hunters may return to the Treasure Hunt Center to request hints for any puzzles as necessary. Asking for hints will not disqualify hunters from obtaining prizes. Hunters are encouraged to spend a reasonable amount of time in between hints and not abuse the hint system.

Other Rules

  • Hunters may only redeem their answer sheet once for the Friday puzzles and once for the Saturday puzzles.
  • While hunters may post their progress to #OffKaiTreasureHunt, the hunt organizers would like to request no spoilers be posted.
    • Spoilers include puzzle hints, puzzle solutions, puzzle hint requests, and puzzle locations.
  • Hunt organizers reserve the right to disqualify any person for misconduct.
  • Hunt organizers reserve the right to change any of the rules mentioned above.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is this page a part of the Treasure Hunt?

No, this page is not a part of the Treasure Hunt.

How is the Treasure Hunt different from Stamp Rally?

Stamp Rally is focused more on major content areas, while Treasure Hunt is focused on more niche areas around the convention. In addition, while the main difficulty of Stamp Rally is on navigating to the individual areas, the difficulty of Treasure Hunt is split between finding the different puzzle locations and the actual puzzle content.

How difficult will the Treasure Hunt be?

The overall Hunt has aimed for a difficulty similar to that of puzzles within escape rooms. For those familiar with puzzle hunts, the puzzles should be on the same difficulty level, if not easier, than those from Puzzled Pint.

I solved all the Friday puzzles on Friday. Can I solve the Saturday puzzles early?

The Saturday puzzles will be officially posted on Saturday, and the Treasure Hunt Center will handle hint requests and answer submissions for the Saturday puzzles on Saturday.

I think something is wrong with a puzzle. What should I do?

Please report the error to the Treasure Hunt Center and we’ll make an announcement regarding it. If we are unable to update the online content at the convention center, we will provide updates at the Treasure Hunt Center and the location of the puzzle when possible.

I’m stuck on a puzzle. What should I do?

Here are some general puzzle tips that might be useful:

  • Thoroughly check your work. Fixing a small mistake or incorrect assumption can help with getting unstuck.
  • Take a break and wander around the convention. It’ll take some time to get to the next puzzle location.
  • Consider what information you haven’t used yet.
  • Using online search engines is allowed.
  • Request a hint at the Treasure Hunt Center.

Isn’t this just a puzzle hunt with prizes?

Yes.

Can I get a hint to the Treasure Hunt Prepuzzle?

There are two words to extract from the prepuzzle.
